To make a difference by encouraging and motivating people to find the fearless leader hidden deep within and allowing their individual light to shine regardless of the situation(s) they may be facing. To bring attention to the negative and positive effects social media has on our society. Social media had a direct connection with my daughter being taken from us all way too soon. It takes one person to make a difference. The goal of The Ganea Pleasant Foundation is to be that positive impact by giving back to those organizations that positively impacted Ganea’s life, the lives of her family and of her community.
My daughter Ganea was a 2010 graduate of Central Crossing High School. She loved the game of basketball. In high school she played all 4 years, was a starter on varsity for 3 years, and served as co-captain her Senior year. After graduation Ganea attended Wright State University where she majored in Criminal Justice. Ganea was murdered October 30, 2011. She was only 19 years old and in her sophomore year of college. Ganea was a very friendly person and she never met a stranger. She always did her best to see the good in everyone. I remember one day she told me she was leaving the house to take some pizzas to the homeless. I said, “Be careful”. She replied, “Mom, my friends and I do it all the time”.
1. Donation of book bags to the Vaughn E. Hairston YMCA after school program - Ganea attended this program after school and their summer programs. During her time in the program she learned to swim and established many great friendships, including the lasting friendships with the staff. The summer after she graduated high school she worked for the summer program at the Vaughn YMCA.
2. Leadership Award and Scholarship Presented To An Outstanding Leader on the Central Crossing Girls Basketball Team - Ganea loved basketball and was very competitive. She did not like to LOSE! She was a leader on her team and we would like to honor another leader playing for the program Ganea loved.
3. Adopt a family for the Holidays
The Foundation will adopt a family that is in need for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. The goal is to show our adopted family what the holidays are all about....GIVING.
The above three goals will remain on our yearly goals list. As the Foundation grows we will be expanding our list of outreach goals.
100% of your generous donation will be used to fund our mission. Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our current and future goals.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
